His hilarious videos earned him a sell-out tour and now Mo Gilligan’s long-awaited Friday night channel 4 series is finally here!
The arrival of The Lateish Show with Mo Gilligan is just the beginning of an adventure, it appears there’s no stopping the comedian. The Bafta Nominated comedian shot to fame from his daily DIY comedy videos on Instagram, later creating the catchphrase “ a coupla cans”. The catchphrase was mimicked by Canadian hip-hop artist Drake, and Gilligan’s profile shot up. Mo’s debut Coupla Cans stand up tour has smashed all records selling over 30,000 tickets to date including a huge two week West End residency, with numerous dates selling out in minutes.
A synopsis of the new series on the British Comedy Guide reads, “Featuring big-name guests and you — the great British public — in a mix of chat, iconic studio games, unexpected music performances, prizes, and Mo’s trademark character sketches. Hosted by superstar award-winning comedian Mo Gilligan; the man with energy to put the fun back into Friday nights. Get ready for a raucous night where everyone’s a guest. Funny, fresh, and late… ish.”
Earlier this year Gilligan co-hosted The Big Narstie Show with Big Narstie and was said to be Channel 4’s most popular program for the younger audience. He has also already made huge appearances on The Russell Howard Hour (Sky One), The Chris Ramsay Show, Live from the Comedy Store and Rob Delaney’s Stand Up Central (Comedy Central).
The Lateish Show with Mo Gilligan airs 10 p.m., Fridays on Channel 4.
