The play is called East by Steven Berkoff, the monologue performed is by the character Les.

“Les, is an adolescent male growing up in a working class family in the east end of London. Who is arrogant and amoral, and lives for the weekends to party it up with his pal Mike. After a long days work, Les is making his way home on the bus when he spots the most “Gorgeous girl, a right darling”. He’s reliving the moment and telling Mike about this mysterious girl and how the clear difference in class made him realise he had no chance with her. Here in this monologue Les addresses the issue and tells Mike that in order to pull better girls instead of “slags” they need to do better in life.
